Band

2016, On the shores of Lake Biel, somewhere between a guitar and a *cough* bottle of beer, The Critical Experience was brought to life by bassist Joel and guitarist/vocalist Chester – best friends since detention in 1st grade. Their mission? Besides the destruction of capitalism and the creation of world peace: to write honest and meaningful songs (… and thus either revolutionize the music world or at least tear it out of the endless loop of irrelevant pop songs for a moment).

Musically, we move somewhere between indie grunge and psychedelic rock. (Unless Chester is in his pop phase). Our influences range from legendary rock bands to the sound our amps make when we forget to set them properly.

Otherwise on the board in his spare time, Fabio came on board in 2019, playing both guitar and piano – and enchanting us with playful backing vocals and a repertoire of questionable but undeniably creative noises.

After a long search, our drummer Pascal finally joined us. Few words but a lot of banging. He loves to sit at the back and set the pace live with passion and power.

In January 2025, we welcomed Romina on guitar, keys and backing vocals. She not only inspires us musically, but also with her ability to digress so much during a conversation that nobody knows what it’s about.

But why the name “The Critical Experience”?

Well, it stands for all those moments when you feel lost and overwhelmed, when life consists of more construction sites than solutions and you are looking for a common thread. Our lyrics reflect these experiences: the highs and lows, the moments of clarity and the phases of chaos. Sometimes you find answers, sometimes just more questions – but one thing is certain: the experience is worth it.

So, enough chatter. Grab a ticket or your headphones, a beer (or three) and be part of our critical experience!
